2008 Canadian Poker Open Championship Announced
The winter has just heated up in Canada. Our neighbors to the north have recently announced that the 2008 Canadian Poker Open Championship will take place at Alberta's Deerfoot Inn and Casino in Calgary from March 5 – 9, 2008. The 2008 COPC, which is owned by Heads Up Entertainment, a company specializing in creating “branded entertainment through the development, production, and marketing of televised programming based on poker and other entertainment themes,” will feature five events and a total projected prize pool of $1.3 million.
The Main Event, which begins on March 6, will be in a heads-up format and limited to 128 players.
Following is a schedule of events, all of which are NLHE:
• March 5: $500 no-limit hold'em charity event (5% of proceeds go to Breast Cancer Research) • March 6: $5,000 heads-up no-limit hold'em main event • March 7: $1,500 six-player shorthanded no-limit hold'em event • March 8: $1,000 no-limit hold'em event • March 9: $500 no-limit hold'em event
