PokerStars Sunday Million - Results from June 10, 2007
With the World Series of Poker underway, one would think that the weekend online tournaments would be suffering from a lack of attention...and attendance. PokerStars , the home of four WSOP Main Event Champs and oodles of bracelet winners, including Kid Poker, Daniel Negreanu, had no problems putting up big numbers and paying out massive prizes. This week the top two finishers earned over $130,000 each.
All told, there were 6,905 entrants in this Sunday Million for June 10, 2007. As the final table action got underway, ANDAMAN 974 was the chip leader with over 16.8 mil. He was the only bloke at the table with seven figures' worth of chips.
1bigbluffer1 and peterjenning were the short stocks with 2.6 and 4 mil respectively. Unsurprisingly, they were the first two eliminated from the final table. wandsworth, who celebrated a victory by cracking peterjenning's kings with an ace on the river (and an A,3 in the hole), wasn't able to build upon his early success and hit the rails in seventh place after getting aggressive with a 9c,4s.
Brooks2330 reraised bani33's all-in preflop raise and flipped over an Ad,Js. Unfortunately, bani33 made the easy and quick call with pocket rockets. The board paired, but not with jacks, giving bani33 the knockout and a bit of breathing room with a slight chip lead over ANDAMAN 974.
eom2000 hit the skids in fifth place after losing a preflop all-in call with A,K against goodvibe1's pocket nines. Soon after, bani33 finished him off by hitting a pair of nines on the flop. (We're betting that nine is NOT eom's lucky number.) At least he earned $41,430 for his effort. That's gotta console him somewhat.
goodvibe1 decided to talk chop at this point, but bani33 nixed the idea, preferring to play it out. Unfortunately for bani, he'd be the next one out the door. At this point, the three remaining players agreed on a by-the-chips chop that guaranteed ANDAMAN $147,561 no matter what place he finished in.
goodvibe1 went all-in with a suited A,Q and was sent packing via ANDAMAN's pocket nines. His third place finish, along with the chip chop, gave him a respectable $82,231.
When heads-up play began, ANDAMAN 974 had a commanding lead with 52.2 mil chips to dangdokodang's 16.8 mil. However, dangdokodang played an aggressive match, going all-in several times and catching the best of it as well as the lead. dangdokodang, once he got the lead, never gave it up and sent ANDAMAN 974 away in second place with the bigger payday.
Here are the final results:
1. dangdokodang (United States) $132,029.84 2. ANDAMAN 974 (Reunion) $147,560.79 3. goodvibe1 (Germany) $82,231.37 4. bani33 (Hungary) $55,240.00 5. eom2000 (Finland) $41,430.00 6.
