Also at PokerStars, Apathy123 took down the $5,200 Freezeout and High Stakes Showdown tournaments to the tune of $120,000. The Canadian's feat was first accomplished by Italian pro Dario Mineri several weeks back. However, that doesn't make it any less impressive. Kudos to Apathy123 for his busy – and profitable – Sunday.
Full Tilt also put up good numbers for attendance this weekend. The online home of pros such as Howard Lederer, Jennifer Harman and Gus Hansen saw record-breaking numbers on Sunday. 4,257 entrants sat down to play in the $750,000 Guarantee, bringing the prize pool up to $851,400. The difference between first and second place was $60,000. On the final hand, Trapstar878 won the day and the extra moolah. Trapstar878 defeated Tim “Tim0thee” Adams en route to the win.
These are the final standings:
1) Trapstar878 - $150,348 2) Tim0thee - $91,014 3) Imustcall - $59,598 4) Lopov - $46,827 5) PokerCzar - $35,162 6) ionlyplayAA - $26,052 7) wolverine121212 - $19,582 8) BUBBA1 - $15,325 9) porkchopmitch - $11,408
The Ultimate Bet $200,000 Guaranteed on Sunday avoided an overlay for the second week in a row. That's the first time the site that sponsors both Annie Duke and Phil Hellmuth achieved that feat. This weekend 1,069 players – 6 more than last week's record-breaking amount - paid their fee to play. The total prize pool was $213,000. The final table was a 'sideshow' of sorts with both sideshowbobbb and sideshowgill making the back nine. They finished one shy of each other with sideshowbobbb in seventh. 'gill' took eighth position. In the end DIAGF ZPace won the day, defeating rplrpl in a heads-up match-up.
Here are the results:
1) DIAGF ZPace - $47,036 2) rplrpl - $24,537 3) jqueen - $19,028 4) TABMD - $13,897 5) sick_1 - $11,225 6) sonofa_nh - $8,980 7) sideshowbobbb - $6,842 8) sideshowgill - $4,811 9) jeffbeesdat - $3,635 10) wishfull - $2,138
Bodog , unfortunately, continues to struggle. This weekend they had only 801 players at their $100,000 Guarantee. This means that the site had to pay out $19,900 to meet the guarantee, nearly one-fifth of the total prize pool. Making it all the way to heads-up play was Eric “Rizen” Lynch, one of the internet's most well-known and fearsome pros. However, he was soundly defeated by Tomgus456, who won the day and the $25k.
These are the final standings:
1) Tomgus456 - $25,000 2) Rizen – $14,000 3) michaelahci - $9,000 4) Trick320 - $6,500 5) GibinMauler - $5,400 6) ranch111 - $4,400 7) Mr_Mojorisin - $3,400 8) fergwrx - $2,400 9) thecure19 - $1,550
