FTOPS VII Begins with a Bang
Full Tilt kicked off the seventh installment of its highly successful online poker series, the FTOPS, on February 6 with a $750,000 Guaranteed NLHE tournament. Hosted by Jonathan Little, the second place finisher at the 2007 Doyle Brunson North American Poker Classic, the event drew an impressive amount of entrants – 5,319 in all to be exact. This drove the prize pool up over the million dollar mark. Not bad for a Wednesday night, eh?
Online poker sensation Danny “THE__D__RY” Ryan, who once finished second in a Full Tilt $500,000 Guarantee tournament, a feat that netted him more than $75k, made back his $200 buy-in plus a few bucks. Ryan finished in 609th place. All tolled, 738 people earned some duckets in the event. Also in the mix was Jon “PearlJammed” Turner, an FTP pro who has made more than a million dollars in online events alone. His 160th place finish yielded $691.47 and the distinction of being the highest FTP-sponsored finisher in the event.
In the end, the night, the title, the FTOPS jersey avatar and $183,526.78 belonged to cashmaker81.
