FTOPS V Results – Event 5
The $300,000 Guaranteed No-Limit-Hold'Em Tournament with Rebuys took place on Saturday, August 11 th at Full Tilt Poker. Event #5 of the FTOPS V was, of course, a star-studded event. Almost 1700 people played in the game. There were 2,277 rebuys and 807 add-ons which brought the prize pool up to over $476,000 in total.
Full Tilt pros Andy Bloch and Allen Cunningham cashed in the event. As the final table got underway, several internet superstars were still in the thick of things. Gary “GB2005” Bogdanski and Garrett “GBecks” Beckman, the eventual champ, had comfortable chip stacks. In fact, GB2005, who took down a tournament in the second installment of the FTOPS, had a million chips more than his nearest competitor.
On the very first hand, LaJune went all-in with a pair of tens. When the river brought a set, Vanssi could only watch in amazement as his queens were no longer good. He was also out in ninth place. Ouch!
GBecks then danced with Dooblie75. Both had eights in their pocket. When a three spiked on the turn to give GBecks two-pair, Dooblie hit the rail faster than you can say “Bad Beat”. Before the break, GB2005's stack took a couple of hits. He couldn't stop the slow bleed and eventually exited the event in a disappointing fifth place, earning nearly $30,000 for the effort.
20KJAY accumulated some chips, most notably by knocking out darkbet with a flush on the river. He then terminated flopdisasta in third place. This gave him a 5-to-1 advantage as heads-up play against GBecks got underway. Unfortunately for 20KJAY, GBecks played aggressive poker and caught some cards when he needed them. He also had some help from his friends. His buddy, Jeff Madsen, one of Full Tilt's pros, was rooting him on from the rail.
