PokerStars ANZPT Qualifiers

PokerStars is running qualifiers for the month of May to play in the Australia and New Zealand Poker Tour.

ANZPT Season 1 – The story so far

The Skycity Casino in Adelaide, South Australia, played host to the inaugural event of the ANZPT as 215 players battled through four days of poker. Each player put up AUD$3,000 ($2,020) to enter, creating a total prize pool of AUD$586,950 ($395,223). PokerStars qualifier Karl Krautschneider had the distinction of being the ANZPT's first ever tournament champion, collecting AUD $170,215 ($114,614) for the win. Sparks flew on the final hand as Karl moved all-in on the flop drawing to a flush, only to be called by Tony Dunst's two pair. The turn brought no help to either player, but a club arrived on the river and the title, trophy, and cash were Krautschneider's.

There are three events left to the inaugural ANZPT season:

ANZPT Sydney Star City Casino Australia/Sydney AUD $2,200 April 30-May 3, 2009

ANZPT Melbourne Crown Casino Australia/Melbourne AUD $2,700 May 25-May 27, 2009

ANZPT Queenstown Skycity Casino Queenstown New Zealand/Queenstown NZD $2,500 July 21-25, 2009
