Jorbeck Bests Pros at Party Poker's Late Night Poker Tournament
Andreas Jorbeck is a 36 year old Swedish amateur player. He won his seat to the 2008 Late Night Poker Tournament online at – where else – Party Poker . Facing a tough final table which included pros such as Eddy Scharf, Surinder Sunar and Andy Black, the Swede had his work cut out for him.
Jorbeck had, to his credit, made his way to the final table by defeating a tough table. He had already outlasted Joe Beevers, Liam Flood and David “Devilfish” Ulliott. Despite that, the smart money wasn't on the Swede to take the title.
He claimed the second carcass at the final table, taking out former pilot and German Omaha specialist Eddy Scharf, in eighth place. Later on, he crippled Andy Black, who recently won the Party Poker Premier League tournament, with a set of jacks. On the next hand, Black bid the table farewell in third position, leaving Jorbeck, who also won a seat to the Party Poker Million VI Cruise this May online, and De Wolfe to slug it out.
De Wolfe, a former WPT champ – he won the Grand Prix de Paris event in 2005 and all-around fearsome player, seemed to have the match firmly in his grasp.
Unfortunately, for him, the cards didn't fall his way. Jorbeck, a telecom business development manager in Stockholm, capitalized on De Wolfe's card dead state and overtook the lead. On the final hand, Jorbeck made a set of Aces with on the flop and won the title and the $125,000 that went along with it.
These are the results:
1) Andreas Jorbeck - $125,000 2) Roland de Wolfe - $75,000 3) Andy Black - $50,000 4) Surinder Sunar - $30,000 5) David Tighe - $20,000 6) Eddy Scharf - $12,500 7) Ian Frazer - $10,000 8) Maria Demetriou - $7,500
