Dusk Til Dawn £500+£50 DTD main event 5th Jan 2008

On Saturday 5th January, Dusk Til Dawn held their first ever £500+£50 DTD main event, attracting many high stake professional players such as European Hall of Fame inductee Mickey Wernick, GUKPT player of the year Dave Smith and online legend Paul "actionjack" Jackson.

The tournament kicked off at 7.30pm, the atmosphere quiet and intense as players settled in for the long haul. The action was soon to kick in though as, despite the 40 minute clock, 7000 chips and slow blind structure, the aggressive style of the players whittled the number of runners down to just 48 within 2 hours!

DTD Accounts Director Simon Nowab, also playing in the tournament, had a very promising start acquiring an impressive amount of chips despite a late start. Unfortunately it was not to be though and he was knocked out by Dave Smith on the second to last table when he flopped top pair (8) but ran into Dave's pocket 99's allin bet.

The aggressive nature of the tournament meant that by 3am DTD were down to their final table. Interestingly, the two players Richard Berridge and Pat Kelly who finished first and second respectively both made the final table.

They weren't to last long though with Richard Berridge bubbling in 8th place when he called Dave Smith's allin on a K 3 5 (2 heart flop) with 77 only for Dave to show the K. Pat just made the money coming 7th pushing allin on a 9 10 J board with a Q in his hand, he ran into Lord Wernick's 99, a 2 on the turn and another 9 for quads sent Pat to the rail but £1240 richer. The remaining six players then had the option to continue playing or make a deal as it was approaching 4am. A chip count was agreed and the six remaining players decided to split the money between them. DTDPoker.com are running online satellites now for the 2nd February £500+£50 event. You could qualify for this great tournament from as little as £10 + £1!

As well as the £500+£50 event, dtd saw another staggering weekend of cash games running until all hours of the morning! By 1am on Sunday morning, over 12 tables were in play with one loose £5/£10 game running, the first seen at DTD, with pots averaging the £500 mark.

Usually cash game action starts to slow down a little at this hour but by 3am all the tables were still open and even by 5am there were still queues of people waiting to play! It shows that Dusk Till Dawn is quickly becoming the place to be for cash games.
