WSOP Results - Event 27

Wendeen Eolis Goes Deep in Event 27 (Credit: World Poker Tour)

Event #27, a $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Extravaganza put up big attendance numbers. 2,315 people sat down to play when Jack Effel announced the world-famous "Shuffle Up and Deal" on June 16th. The prize pool topped $3 million and, by the end of the day on June 18th, David Stucke, a 33 year old physics professor from Henderson, NV, earned his first WSOP bracelet and over $600,000 in cash.

Sabyl Cohen, the highest female finisher in last year's Main Event, finished in eleventh place. Wendeen Eolis also cashed in the event. Wendeen is the first lady to cash in the main event - she did that back in 1986 - and doubled the effort by being the first woman to cash twice in the Main Event in 1993.

David Williams, Lee Watkinson, and Minh Nguyen were among the pros in attendance. However, I've gotta note that a dude named Brandon Cashwell made the money in the event, earning $3,476 for his 196th place finish. However, he's got the second-best name of a poker player ever...after Chris Moneymaker, of course.

Here are the final results:

1) David Stucke - $603,069 2) Young Cho - $382,357 3) Seth Weinger - $246,478 4) Michael Ium - $164,319 5) David Woo - $115,339 6) Noam Freedman - $83,739 7) Tom Dobrilovic - $63,200 8) Luis Sanchez - $47,400 9) Thai Ton - $36,340
